This book is like the rain after a drought. It nourishes and redeems.I read this book, no that's not quite right...I devoured this book. Then handed it to my roommate and she devoured it as well. I plan to buy both of my daughter a copy so when they are older they can find comfort and peace in this piece of work.
This book is womanhood and blackness and all that a black woman would express to another. The words work together so honestly to paint a very beautiful picture that lingers in your mind after each page. A great read. And so much truth.

Honestly, this book is everything! I purchased it a while ago and have not had the opportunity to read it until now. From the first page I loved it. The opening letter to her mother, remembering that one must always be willing and able to move on from the past.
